The court culture of Delhi is
still reflected in the Delhi art and culture. For several years during the
reign of the different rulers, kings and emperors have patronized music. As
such, artists from distance places used to visit the kings to seek patronage.
Although the concept of kings patronizing Delhi art is no more these days, the
essence is still alive.

The common
Delhi art festivals like Dhrupad, Tansen,and Shankarlal Festivals are much
awaited events by Delhites. These festivals take place in the month of February
through March. The other festival which is liked by all is the Vishnu Digamber Festival that is held
in the month of August.
The most
exciting of all music festivals in the capital city is the Qutub Festival which
is held in the month of October. In this festival, musicians, artists, singers,
and dancers from all over the country perform at the site of the Qutub Minar. This historical monument
is usually kept at the backdrop of the programs.

Aside from
music and dance, Delhi has a lot to boast about when it comes to art.
Traditional craft is essentially an important part of Delhi art since time
immemorial. Zari work and embroidery work in gold and silver is common here.
Gold enameling is also a form of art that has long been practiced in the city.
Fine pottery
work, making wooden toys, kit making, and lacquer craftsmanship are other Delhi
art forms.
Delhi has
its own Gharana. Music festivals, cinema, theater, recitals, and art
